Additional targeted consultation

Our additional targeted consultation has now closed. Thank you to all those who took part.

We have continued to work closely with National Grid Electricity Transmission (NGET) regarding the proposed Weston Marsh substations being developed as part of their Grimsby to Walpole project, which will be our point of connection to the National Electricity Transmission System (NETS).

As a result of ongoing collaboration and updated information from NGET, our previous assumptions about the location and configuration of the Weston Marsh substations have been updated to reflect National Grid’s latest plans. This has required the inclusion of additional land within the Scheme boundary to facilitate our grid connection to the proposed Weston Marsh Substation B.

A plan showing the land required for this section of the Scheme is available on the documents page.

Construction of the overhead line would take place within this area, and infrastructure within this land would include pylons and the overhead line itself. The full extent of the fields has been included to provide flexibility during detailed design, including consideration of the nearby Grimsby to Walpole project, which is also proposing an overhead line through this area. The Meridian Solar Farm overhead line is intended to run generally parallel to the Grimsby to Walpole route.

We consulted on the inclusion of this land between 8 January and 5 February 2026.

Targeted consultation

Our targeted consultation has now closed. Thank you to all those who took part.

Since our stage two consultation, held between 24 April and 8 June 2025, we have been reviewing the feedback received and carrying out surveys and assessments to help inform our Scheme design. As a result of these surveys and design refinements, together with the feedback received during our stage two consultation, we have made a number of localised changes to the Scheme design. Our targeted consultation was on these changes.

Thank you to all those who took part. All comments will be considered alongside the feedback received during our stage two consultation as we prepare our Development Consent Order Application.

Stage two consultation

Our stage two consultation ran from Thursday 24 April 2025 to Sunday 8 June 2025.

We held a series of in-person events at publicly accessible venues where you were able to view and discuss our more detailed plans for Meridian Solar with members of the project team. We also uploaded two online information presentations which provided an overview of the proposals and summarised and provided a response to the most commonly asked questions we received throughout the consultation period. Both videos are available on the Documents page.

We also created a virtual consultation room where you could view our proposals online.

Stage one consultation

We first introduced our proposals for Meridian Solar in 2024. Our stage one consultation ran from 30 May until 11 July 2024, which involved three in- person public events and an online webinar. The consultation introduced the proposals to the local community and sought feedback on the initial proposals.

We would like to thank everyone who took part in this consultation and provided feedback. The feedback received, along with our ongoing engagement with local authorities, parish councils and other interested parties, including statutory consultees, has helped to shape our more detailed proposals that we are presenting as part of this stage two consultation.

If you would like to read more about the key themes that were raised during our stage one consultation and how we have been working to address and incorporate the comments into our design, see our Consultation Information Booklet, which can be found in the Documents page.
